Ourense

Ourense (Galician: [owˈɾɛnsɪ] is a city and capital of the province of Ourense, located in the autonomous community of Galicia, northwestern Spain. It is on the Camino Sanabrés path of the Way of St James (Camino de Santiago), and is crossed by the Miño, Barbaña, Loña and Barbañica rivers. It is also known as A cidade das Burgas ^[3] (in Galician) due to its hot springs, being one of the European cities with the greatest thermal heritage.^[4]

The museum was opened in 1957 and installed in the gothic cloister of the Cathedral of Ourense, from the 13th century. The museum houses funds from a variety of periods. The collection can be grouped into series: liturgical objects (goblets, trays...); the treasure of San Rosendo from the Monastry of Celanova; liturgical clothing and religious sculpture and painting.

The location of the museum is the old Episcopal Pazo, at the heart of the old town. The pazo was declared historical - artistic site in 1931. The complex has a Romanesque central part and later extension.

The Otero Pedrayo Museum is located in the place of Cimadevila, in the parish of Trasalba of the City Council of Amoeiro, Ourense. In this site, the Otero Pedrayo Foundation saves the memory of the patriarch of the Letras Galegas (modern Galician literature).
